Increase confidence in an inclusive classroom, reducing suspensions, and creating a sense of belonging for all students with this series of trainings focused on inclusive practices, laws that protect children, family engagement, developmental screenings, and available supports for children.
Foundations of Inclusion is offered in English (Spanish & Cantonese interpretation available). Includes Six 2-hour webinars and a 1-hour orientation. Participants must attend all sessions to receive professional development hours and a certificate. Participants receive 10 hours of 1:1 or small group coaching. Inclusion plans will be developed with support from an SFCD staff member. New cohorts start four times per year.
Attendees will learn about the value of developmental screening, how to give the ASQ assessments, how to identify strategies to involve families in the screening, and how to include the ASQ assessments as part of the services you provide. Attendees who participate in all four sessions of the series receive professional development credit. English, Spanish, and Cantonese trainings available throughout the year.
Ages & Stages Questionnaires®️ (ASQ) is a screening for children’s development. It has been used for more than 20 years to help parents identify their children’s strengths or areas where they may need additional support.
The ASQ-3 is focused on developmental progress and measures progress in a child’s development of communication, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, problem solving, and personal-social skills.
The ASQ-SE-2 focuses only on early detection of social-emotional development.
Families of young children learn about developmental milestones, assessments, and how to connect to early intervention services, including GGRC and SFUSD. Learn about special education services, techniques to develop positive and effective collaboration with school teams, and activities to facilitate your child’s growth and development.
