The mission of the Department of Police Accountability is to promptly, fairly and impartially investigate complaints against San Francisco police officers, make policy recommendations regarding police practices and conduct periodic audits of the San Francisco Police Department. Civilians who have never been police officers in San Francisco staff the Department of Police Accountability.
They have brochures explaining how people can file complaints regarding interactions with the police when needed, the brochures are available in several languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Tagalog, Vietnamese, and Arabic.
The “Know your Rights” card is so new that it is only available in English. You can see information similar to the info on the KYR card also available in these brochures
